Role:

Our client, a key player in the aerospace sector is looking to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant due to internal promotion.

This role will support the Financial Controller in delivering the company's Financial objectives by leading core financial management activities, ensuring strong reporting and compliance, overseeing the SAP Cockpit (Invoicing workflow) and P2P workflow, and partnering with key departments to provide accurate, timely and robust financial information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monthly management accounts preparation and general ledger closing.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packs (turnover, Inter-company, trial balance, Tax), in line with the Group requirements.
  • Supporting the Financial Controller to ensure that key tasks allocated amongst the Financial Control Team are completed to deadline, especially during Financial Controller holiday/absences.
  • Managing, coaching, and supporting the Trainee Accountant, including oversight of daily tasks and development.
  • Oversight of the SAP Cockpit process, including the day-to-day coordination with the Trainee Accountant (Cockpit Administrator), implementing effective processes and analytics to address root causes of P2P (Purchase to pay) issues and support Safran Group OTP 95% objective.
  • Supporting the management of the external audit process.
  • Assisting with statutory accounting preparation and tax analysis.
  • Preparing month-end presentations and ad hoc reports for the business.
  • Streamline existing processes using digitalisation where possible and removing waste.
  • Stock reporting and ensuring inventory-related data is accurate and up to date.
  • Cash management activities, including daily bank reconciliation review and support with expense payments.
  • Contributing to the preparation and submission of the monthly rolling cash forecast (ROFO) to Group.
  • Maintaining an accurate and complete Fixed Asset Register.
  • Preparing and posting the monthly payroll journals.
  • Completing monthly balance sheet reconciliations with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Ensuring adherence to internal controls, policies and procedures.
  • Supporting HMRC compliance, including VAT returns, R&D tax credit claims and R&D grant submissions.

Experience Required:

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) or qualified by experience, with broad and adaptable finance expertise.
  • Hands-on experience with automation and digitalisation, including identifying opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and improve data accuracy.
  • Continuous Improvement mindset, consistently seeking ways to enhance efficiency, strengthen controls, and modernise finance processes.
  • Collaborative team player, comfortable working under pressure, meeting strict deadlines, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Highly numerate, able to analyse complex problems and develop practical, data-driven solutions.
  • Proactive approach, responsive and action-driven.
  • Existing experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong proficiency across the wider Microsoft Office suite.
  • Comfortable working with digital tools and systems to support efficient financial processes.
  • Power BI (preferable)
  • Will have worked with ERP systems (SAP preferable).
