This is a unique role where you'll have the opportunity to build and shape processes from the ground up. With finance currently largely outsourced and shared across the team, the business is now seeking someone who can bring structure, take ownership, and support its continued growth (current turnover circa £3.5m).

You'll play a key role in managing day-to-day financial operations, while also taking responsibility for credit control and maintaining accurate financial records.

The Role:

  • Take ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping and financial administration

  • Manage purchase ledger and sales ledger activities

  • Process supplier invoices and prepare payments

  • Raise and issue sales invoices and allocate incoming receipts

  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations

  • Monitor debtor balances and actively manage credit control

  • Chase overdue payments and resolve invoice queries

  • Prepare aged debtor reports and reconcile supplier statements

  • Assist with VAT returns and month-end processes

  • Support external accountants with reporting requirements

  • Assist with payroll administration where required

  • Implement and improve financial processes and controls

About You:

  • Proven experience in a Bookkeeper, Accounts Assistant, or similar role

  • Experience within an engineering, manufacturing, or similar sector (essential)

  • Strong working knowledge of purchase and sales ledger

  • Solid reconciliation and credit control experience

  • Experience using Xero (essential) or similar systems such as Sage

  • Good Excel skills and strong attention to detail

  • Confident communicator with customers and suppliers

  • Able to work independently and take ownership of a finance function

  • Proactive, organised, and comfortable in a role that is still evolving

  • Available to start immediately or at short notice

What's on Offer:

  • Salary between £32,000 - £35,000

  • Temp-to-perm opportunity with long-term progression

  • Early finish on Fridays

  • Opportunity to shape and develop your own role

  • Join a close-knit, supportive team within a growing business

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work, and is looking to make a real impact within a business. If you're ready to step into a role where you can truly take ownership and drive improvements, we'd love to hear from you.
