Head of Finance

Employment Type: PermanentLocation: City of ManchesterSalary: £45000 - £50000 per annum + Benefits

My client is seeking to appoint a Head of Finance to join a well-established company within the Education sector. You will be required to provide high quality financial management and controls whilst supporting and reporting to the Director of Finance and the Board of Directors.

You will be seen as a member of the senior management team and have the responsibility of line management for 8 direct reports. You will act as a trusted business partner to budget holders and support both the Company's existing operations as well as its strategy for continued growth going forwards.

The focus of the role will be to develop financial reporting and forecasting capabilities, maintain strong financial controls and data integrity and be involved in company-wide projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monthly reporting to the Board with timely and accurate financial information
  • Financial forecasting - integrated financial modelling and 'what if' scenarios
  • Develop/monitor financial controls ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded, reported and reconciled
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities
  • Lead, develop and motivate a finance team
  • Financial management of added value projects
  • Manage relationships with professional advisors, including external stakeholders and budget holders
  • Complete additional tasks to meet departmental, development or change objectives

Your skills and experience

  • You will be academically strong and analytical with an Accountancy qualification (in CIMA/CCAB)
  • Sector experience preferably in an Education/Public Sector/Third Sector environment.
  • You will be operationally and solution orientated and take a proactive, practical, hands on approach to tasks
  • You will also need a proven track record in system development and process improvement
  • Advanced Excel skills and previous team management experience.
