Finance Assistant

Finance Assistant

Location: Manchester (Full Home Working)

Salary: £21,000 - £23,000

Duration: 3-Month Contract

We have an exciting opportunity to join one of our clients as a Finance Assistant on a fixed term, full time (36 hours per week) basis for 3 months. Previous experience is preferred (3+ years).

You will:

  • Work agilely to support the wider Finance team where required, building positive relationships with colleagues and internal customers.
  • Build on existing supplier relationships to ensure a smooth an efficient payment process.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the Transactional Team to ensure efficient processing of both AP and AR ledgers.
  • Assist to maximise the performance of the Transactional team in support of the Finance Team's and the Group's overall objectives: and
  • Maximise the use of IT systems and continually evaluate processes to drive efficiencies across the team, increasing effectiveness and ensuring added value wherever possible.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Processing of supplier, contractor, and utility invoices within the finance systems, to ensure suppliers are paid within agreed terms, undertaking regular checks to ensure their accuracy.
  • Chase unapproved supplier invoices, ensuring suppliers and contractors are paid within agreed terms.
  • Reconciliation of supplier statements and accounts.
  • Liaise with councils and utility companies over billing discrepancies or disputes
  • Monitor invoices blocked due to order discrepancies, ensuring suppliers are paid within agreed terms.
  • Respond to supplier and contractor queries.
  • Create weekly payment runs for external suppliers.
  • Provide support with the accounts receivable tasks during the month to ensure all deadlines are met in respect of:
  • Cash Allocations
  • Creating Invoices
  • Dunning Letters
  • Creating Statements
  • File and retrieve information both manually and via computer-based systems, and maintenance of records.
  • Assist the team lead responsible for Transactional Services and work with the Transactional Services team to deliver Finance Operations Services.
  • To provide support and cover for additional duties, as required by the wider Finance team.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to work with demanding deadlines.
  • Evidence of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to show initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A strong commitment to high quality customer service, both internal and external
  • Self-motivated and possess a high standard of work and willingness to develop
  • Ability to use initiative and take ownership for issues that may arise and be proactive
  • Adapts positively to change
