Four Supply Chain

Head of Supply Chain and Logistics

Employment Type: PermanentLocation: ManchesterSalary: £60000 - £70000 per annum

I am delighted to be working with a highly successful growing FMCG company who operate across various product categories supplying the UK's largest discount retailers. Growth for my client has been both organic and through acquisitions, and they have recently had a Purchasing department restructure which has created an exciting new Head of Supply Chain and Logistics role. This position will play a pivotal part in helping to drive the business forward in achieving their growth plans, facilitating synergies between the different categories, mitigating potential risk though multi-source supply and optimising inventory levels.

What you will be doing?

  • Purchasing planning & forecasting
  • Building relationships and networking with suppliers
  • Oversight of purchasing processes and controls (including review and sign off of POs alongside the CEO)
  • Stock management - to ensure safe yet cost-effective stock levels of raw materials and bought in finished goods, highlighting slow-moving items to Category leaders within the business and establishing procedures for clearance
  • Oversight of all purchasing staff (some direct line reports) to ensure consistent and best-practice policies are employed across the Group
  • Compliance (HMRC and category-specific regulations such as WEEE Compliance)
  • Freight - negotiating rates and networking with freight forwarders operating between China and the UK

Who would this role suit and key skills and attributes?

This role would suit an experienced Supply Chain Manager/Head Buyer who thrives in fast-paced environments. Although my client recently began trading shares on AIM the culture is very entrepreneurial so the ideal candidate will be excited to work in a dynamic agile environment in addition to:

  • Experience in Far East supply chain management including forex, shipping / freight, duties and customs clearance
  • Highly analytical with the ability to take responsibility for overall stock levels, taking account of both historic seasonality and forecasted sales
  • Experienced in a B2B environment
  • Leadership skills
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Track record of establishing procedures and mitigating supply risk - striking the balance between bringing in processes but keeping a business agile

If this sounds like the ideal opportunity for you then please apply now for immediate consideration.
