I have been a committee member of Pro Manchester’s Future Pro Committee for just over a year now.
I was asked to be involved with the committee originally following Claire Sofield – our Sales Director and Co-Owner’s – departure after being chair of the committee. Claire had really enjoyed her time on the committee and had discussed the value she had received from it both personally and professionally.
As a senior level recruitment professional in Manchester I saw the opportunity as a great way of expanding my referral network, and, in addition making a difference to promoting and developing young talent in Manchester.
I’ve met some great people during my time on the committee, we are a really close-knit group and work fantastically well together.
One of the things I really like about Future Pro-Manchester is that we put real thought into the content of the events we coordinate. We look at the challenges that we faced/face in our careers and shape the content around this in order to help the future generation. I have also thoroughly enjoyed the event planning of the various charity events, last year raising a fantastic £4,000 for Manchester Mind which was a real achievement.
I am also involved in the organisation of the Made in Manchester Awards – which I believe is one of the best awards in our industry. This year we have developed the awards further securing a new venue, new categories, new branding and award design.
Being a part of the committee is also a good way of demonstrating to the professional community that recruiters can add real value to your professional network.
