Purchase Ledger Clerk / Accounts Assistant

Job Title: Accounts Assistant / Purchase Ledger Clerk
Pay Bracket: £26,000 - Negotiable DOE

Our client is a reputable and quickly growing family business based near Sutton, Saint Helens who are looking for a dedicated Accounts Assistant to join their close-knit team. A generous salary is on offer in hopes of attracting a candidate with a strong background of purchase ledger / accounts payable. There is the opportunity to develop yourself further alongside the finance manager should you wish.


Your main roles and responsibilities:
Reporting directly into the Finance Manager, your role is to assist in the transactional running of the finance department, taking management of the company's purchase ledger end to end.

  • Matching, batching, and coding of invoices
  • Processing high volumes of invoices and putting them onto the ERP system
  • Bank payments
  • Query resolution
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Assisting in month end procedures


The ideal candidate will have:
A strong match for this role will be someone who has great attention to detail and gets along well with other people - being able to work independently on tasks and as part of a wider team.

  • Minimum experience of 3 years in AP / Purchase Ledger
  • Knowledge using an ERP system is advantageous but not essential
  • Experience processing high volumes of invoices - exposure to international trade is advantageous
  • Friendly personality and strong work ethic
  • No qualifications required


You'll benefit from:

  • A generous salary circa £24,000 - £26,000 onwards - negotiable depending on experience
  • 20 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • 37.5 hour working week - working hours of 9am - 5pm
  • Free parking available on site
