HR Manager Responsibilities

HR managers have a number of responsibilities which they must complete on a daily basis:

  • Manage recruitment and selection processes 
  • Develop and implement HR strategies in line with with business strategies
  • Support current and future business ventures through development and preservation of capital
  • Maintain a positive working environment 
  • Assess employee training needs and apply training programmes where necessary
  • Ensure complete legal compliance throughout HR management

 

Working hours

Most HR managers will work full time from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, subsequent to around 40 hours per week.

 

 
 

HR Manager Skills and Experience

Key to a business’s HR team, a HR Manager should have:

  • Effectively manage interpersonal relationships throughout the levels of the company

 

HR Manager Experience

HR managers should have at least 5 years of experience within the HR sector, as well as being able to showcase knowledge and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a HR manager. 

Ideally, you will have shadowed a HR manager in your previous role or current position in order to give you a great understanding of daily responsibilities and how operations work.

 

HR Manager Qualifications

Most HR managers are required to have a bachelor's degree in HR or a related field such as business management, education, finance or IT. 

Some companies may also require extra training, such as masters degrees in HR or business administration. 

CIPD qualifications are also desirable for HR managers, covering leadership and management, people management, specialist personnel development and applied development.

 

HR Manager Salary

Depending on age, experience and location, HR manager salaries can range from £30k to £58k per annum, with potential bonus schemes added on top.
