The key roles of an Accounts Manager include developing and maintaining long-term relationships with a portfolio of clients, as well as connecting with stakeholders and business executives. 

Accounts Managers also work with internal teams to ensure timely and successful delivery of solutions to suit the clients needs. In larger companies, they may be responsible for a team of Accounts Managers which are dedicated to the operational needs of assigned clients.

Accounts Manager Responsibilities

Accounts Managers oversee and manage daily operations of the accounting team. Their responsibilities can include:

  • Monitoring and analysing accounting data and producing financial reports
  • Completing annual audits 
  • Assigning projects to staff 
  • Meeting financial accounting goals
  • Providing recommendations 
  • Enforcing proper accounting strategies

 

Working hours

Most Accounts Managers will work from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday, equating to a 40 hour working week. However, depending on the clients' needs, you may be required to work weekends too.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously 
  • Past experience delivering client-focused solutions

 

Accounts Manager Qualifications

Many companies may hire an Accounts Manager without a degree, but having a degree or some form of related qualification will help you have a better advantage in the candidate pool.

These qualifications include:

  • Internships or professional experience in sales or customer service roles
  • Professional certification from the Strategic Account Management Association
  • Accounting & Finance Degree
  • Marketing Degree
  • Business Management Degree

Accounts Manager Salary

Depending on experience, location and age, an Accounts Manager salary can range from £25,000 to £50,000 per annum.
