Accounts Payable Assistant

Trafford- hybrid working

Circa £28,000- £32,000 DOE

Our client is seeking an experienced, proactive and enthusiastic Accounts Payable / Purchase Ledger professional to manage the purchase ledger, with a particular focus on inventory suppliers.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be involved in all aspects of the purchase ledger. You will ideally have experience working with stock, imports and overseas suppliers. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role involving supplier accounts, payments, reconciliations and finance administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review invoices for appropriate documentation prior to posting and payment
  • Perform invoice and general-ledger data entry
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Proactively managing, tracking and recovering deposit payments
  • Responding to supplier queries
  • Processing and allocating outgoing payments
  • Reconciling supplier accounts
  • Providing administrative support to finance team
  • Regular communication of any issues to other stake holders.
  • Reducing/eliminating ageing deposits
  • Regularly contacting suppliers by email and telephone to build strong relationships.
  • Issue reports detailing supplier deposits, balance queries and aged payments.
  • Post journals to clear deductions from the purchase ledger.
  • Update supplier records on the ERP system.
  • Maintaining historical records
  • Paying suppliers by scheduling payments and keeping schedules updated
  • Preparing analyses of accounts and producing monthly reports
  • Expense processing and analysis
  • Continuing to improve the payment process

Skills Required

  • Experience of dealing with overseas suppliers
  • Experience in dealing with foreign currency
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to clearly explain financial matters
  • Attention to detail with good analytical skills
  • The ability to prioritise a heavy workload and be flexible in approach
  • Knowledge of stock and importing procedures
