Accounts Assistant/ Assistant Management Accountant
Location: Westhoughton, Bolton
Salary: circa £30,000 study support
I'm currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join a supportive and growing finance team, with a clear route to progress into an Assistant Management Accountant role.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to build a long term career in finance. The role will initially focus on transactional finance, including sales ledger, credit control and balance sheet support, and as the roles develops, gaining increasing exposure to management accounts, variance analysis, reporting and financial commentary.
You'll take responsibility for:
- Raising and issuing sales invoices
- Allocating customer receipts and maintaining the sales ledger
- Managing credit control and chasing overdue accounts
- Resolving customer queries and disputes
- Producing and reviewing aged debt reports
- Supporting month-end sales ledger close and reconciliations
- Providing purchase ledger cover when required
- Processing supplier invoices and supporting payment runs
- Reconciling supplier statements
- Preparing prepayment schedules
- Posting accrued income and cost journals
- Maintaining supporting schedules and investigating discrepancies
- Supporting wider finance and month-end activities
- Assisting with the development and documentation of new finance processes
We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and keen to develop, with a genuine interest in progressing their finance career.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience within a transactional finance role
- Good Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables and basic formulas
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication skills and confidence liaising with stakeholders
- The ability to manage competing priorities and month-end deadlines
- A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn
- Ideally studying towards AAT, CIMA or ACCA
- Some experience with prepayments, accruals or basic management accounts would be desirable
