Assistant Purchasing Manager

Employment Type: PermanentLocation: OldhamSalary: £28000 - £32000 per annum

A fantastic opportunity to join a fast paced ecommerce business based in Manchester has arisen. My client has experienced substantial growth and is looking for an Assistant Purchasing Manager to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who has proven ability in purchasing, a strong background in Supply Chain and the appetite to add real value, be heard and make a difference. If this sounds like you then look no further.

What you will be doing?

  • Securing production space and raw materials to ensure price maintenance and adequate stock cover
  • Managing critical paths with factories and forwarders to ensure deliveries are on track
  • Negotiating shipment dates with the factories and managing shipment bookings with freight forwarders, to secure best rates and dates
  • Processing shipping documents, ensuring goods board vessels and liaising throughout the process with forwarder, warehouse and finance
  • Working with relevant teams to ensure goods are fit to
  • Maintaining the awareness of market conditions such as; shipping rate forecasts and raw material availability
  • Purchase order matching, manual invoice coding and PO discrepancy investigation
  • System maintenance and ensuring accurate input, amendments and reporting
  • Engaging with the wider team and key stakeholders

Who would this role suit and key skills and attributes?

  • Exceptional Excel skills/knowledge
  • Demonstrable experience within a purchasing role ideally within a high-volume distribution-based environment
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage work pressure.
  • Experience of multi brand purchasing
  • Commercial awareness
  • Ability to work with multiple orders.
  • Tenacity to get the job done and determined to succeed
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Customer focused - attitude responsive and engaging, able to build relationships across a wide range of roles and team
