Trainee Payroll Officer

Trainee Payroll Officer - Progression PLUS CIPP study

  • Salary dependent on experience
  • Full Time - 3 days in the office, 2 days WFH

Our exclusive client based in the heart of Bolton, is looking for a dynamic and adaptable Payroll Assistant to join their fast paced team on a permanent basis. You will be provided with 1 to 1 training from a Payroll Manager with over 30 years' experience and have the opportunity to progress up to manager in the future. This is a new position due to changes within the business, so a great opportunity to make the role your own. Ideally you will have experience of working within a fast paced environment where excellent organisation skills are required. You will have keen eye for detail and be able to manage your own workload.

Some of the duties will include:

  • Processing complex payroll for circa 600 staff
  • Ensuring that all Payroll Processing payments, changes, and adjustments are processed within the required deadlines, ensuring a high level of attention to detail is maintained to ensure accuracy of payroll.
  • To ensure the management of all types of leave & payments e.g. holiday, sick, maternity, are completed effectively.
  • To provide a customer focused Payroll and Benefits function ensuring appropriate and responsive service and guidance to internal customers and external stakeholders.
  • Month-end reconciliations for each payroll and compilation of journals for Finance to post to the respective P&L's.
  • Liaison with HMRC; pension providers and other third parties.
  • To ensure that all statutory, pension and voluntary payroll deductions are paid to external bodies, meeting legislative deadlines.
  • Support the organisation on project work and manage projects as required.
  • Identify any areas requiring improvement to create efficiencies.
