Industry - Production and distribution - leading cleaning distributor (UK & Ireland)

Location - Bolton

Salary - up to £35k

My client are a leading UK based cleaning product distributor based in Bolton who are looking to secure a Sustainability & Innovation Manager to their team following a restructure on the back of a period of growth.

This is an exciting new opportunity to undertake a multifaceted role which is responsible for implementing and managing environmental and social governance for the group. The role will involve conducting market analysis and fully leveraging negotiations to proactively drive sustainability and innovation products and services within the business.

Driven from the top, you will feed directly into the Board of Directors and face off to all stakeholders within the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, and leading a Sustainability Strategy to ensure Jangro remain competitive, grow, and innovate (including responsible sourcing, reduce waste and emissions, closed loop processes, modern slavery policy, diversity, equality and inclusion programs etc).
  • Implementing and managing Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) standards ensuring systems are in place to identify risks and growth opportunities within the business.
  • Measuring and analysing sustainability metrics and reporting on performance against targets.
  • Close liaison with internal teams and committees, leading on sustainability and innovative approaches to contribute to the continuous improvement culture and competitive positioning of the group.
  • Responsible for business certifications and accreditation's such as Planet Mark, ISO14001 etc.
  • Encouraging a vision and culture of sustainable decision making throughout the organisation.
  • Interacting and negotiating with external stakeholders and coordinating projects on new concepts.
  • Presenting concepts to the membership on behalf of internal committees and the board.
  • Utilising skills and knowledge to drive innovation and help the organisation adopt change effectively.
  • Researching the market, attending exhibitions and networking.
  • Supporting national accounts with sustainability and innovation tender responses.
  • Updating and maintaining records and diaries where applicable.
  • Attending and proactively participating in Committee Meetings

Person Specification

  • Proven experience, skills, and passion for sustainability
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and business acumen
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages (Excel, Word)

Ideally, the successful candidate will be educated within sustainability, procurement or business management as well as continuous practical experience in a sustainability / environmental role (preferred & not essential).
