Senior Management Accountant 

Location: Manchester City Centre- hybrid working

Salary: circa £35,000- £42,000 dependant on experience.

Our client is an exciting, growing SME based in the centre of Manchester. The business operates globally and they are continuously launching new products.

We are looking for a dynamic and technically strong Accountant with experience within a growing SME, who is looking to take on responsibility for the day to-day running of the finance department. Ideally you will be part qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or finalist. You must be ambitious, adaptable, keen to progress and have an interest in being a part of a growing business.

Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will deliver key financial information and implement & improve finance policies, procedures and governance controls. The role will offer the right candidate the opportunity for further progression.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Production of management accounts for multiple UK entities including P&L, balance sheet and cashflow
  • Preparation of monthly finance pack with supporting commentary and variance analysis
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Posting of month-end and year-end journals
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Review spending against budgets, identifying overspend and advising on corrective actions
  • Weekly cash-flow reporting/forecasting and variance analysis
  • Approval of payments for all UK entities
  • Quarterly group VAT submissions
  • Production of monthly payroll file for submission to external payroll provider
  • Management and development of two finance assistants
  • Proactively identify and implement process and reporting improvements across the department
  • Support the Finance Manager to plan and manage finance projects
  • Liaise with external accountants/auditors at year-end to provide all necessary information for completion of year-end accounts
  • Business partnering with departments to provide support, information and ad-hoc reporting/analysis
  • Facilitate external relationships with banking, accounting, HMRC and external advisors

 

Experience & skills required:

  • Part-qualified Accountant with industry experience – ACA/CIMA/ACCA OR strong QBE with SME/group experience
  • Ability to work autonomously, ambitious, driven and keen to progress
  • Strong understanding of accounting processes and standards
  • High attention to detail
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to influence
  • Ideally some experience of managing a finance team within an SME
