Senior Commercial Accountant
Based: Bolton- with hybrid working, 2 days working from the office
Salary: circa £55,000- £60,000 DOE
Our client is a PE backed, UK leading tech/services business looking for an experienced Commercial Accountant to join the team. The business has grown rapidly over the last few years and are now looking for a self-sufficient, qualified Accountant to take responsibility for the end-to-end finance function across a number of entities. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the role will involve producing monthly managements accounts, producing & presenting all commercial business reporting including executive & board reports, strong business partnering and accurate budgeting & forecasting.
Role:
- Ownership of full financial responsibilities across a number of entities within a larger Group
- Timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts with relevant commentary and full variance analysis to budget and prior periods
- Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow budgeting and forecasting. Complete ownership of delivering annual budgets and bi-annual reforecasting, whilst engaging relevant stakeholders for inputs
- Building, maintaining, and influencing strong relationships with select stakeholders and budget holders, acting as the link with colleagues, and ensuring that variances to forecasts and budgets are reported and understood
- Commercial support for strong decision making to senior leadership
- Building models to assess new commercial opportunities and assess the ROI of existing business
- Managing and delivering sustainable cost saving targets and initiatives, profit improvements and revenue enhancements
- Supporting stakeholders with detailed revenue, profitability, cost & all other analysis and identifying risks & opportunities and appropriate recommendations to the business
- Performing monthly closing procedures in required time frame, including query resolution and variance analysis
- Management of weekly payment runs across several entities and currencies
- Dealing with foreign entities including statutory accounts and banking
- Overview of monthly payroll processing and analysis
- Balance sheet & intercompany account reconciliations and quarterly VAT Returns
- Improving finance processes through automation and other process improvements
- Ad-hoc project work alongside the Group FC and CFO
Experience/ skills/ attributes:
- ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualified
- Experience managing the full scope of a finance function
- Commercial agility and strong commercial acumen
- Ability to challenge & improve processes & procedures and an attitude for continuous improvement
- Strong Power Query skills are highly advantageous
- Excellent MS excel skills including but not limited to Vlookups, pivots, sumifs, index-match etc.
- Ability to build strong and influential working relationships
