Our client seeks an experienced purchasing professional who is ambitious and tenacious. A team player who is able to manage a busy, expanding purchasing department with strong experience of procurement, stock control, stock analysis, process improvement and demand planning.

The successful candidate will be highly organised with a keen eye for detail and exceptional communication skills, you will play a vital part in ensuring the business has the necessary components and stock to meet customer requirements, and that supplier responsibilities are met, with any issues identified and dealt with or escalated quickly. Providing management information and data to relevant internal and external stakeholders is another key aspect of the role.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Organise, control and complete the Purchasing Department's workload effectively to meet tight deadlines
• Manage the supply chain to ensure timely delivery of all required components and materials
• Develop, negotiate, and administer purchasing agreements and contracts with suppliers in support of organisational requirements, including rebate and cost saving agreements
• Negotiate and manage service contracts including utilities, freight, packaging etc
• Demand planning
• Manage supplier selection process based on price, quality, support, capacity, and reliability.
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers
• Set, manage, and maintain required stock and safety stock levels
• Work closely with buying teams and other relevant departments to manage inventory requirements and forecasted customer demand
• Provide monthly reports and data analysis to the directors along with key metrics for internal stakeholders
• Assist with stock reconciliation, and stock control to ensure that all processes affecting stock have been carried out
• Stock analysis including checking flows and creating/delaying purchase orders
• Contributing to a continuous improvement culture - process improvement and leveraging the power of our newly installed ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics)
• Manage and update an approved vendor/supplier database

Qualifications and Experience:

• Multi-brand purchasing and inventory control
• Experience of import/export/freight forwarding (desirable)
• Experience in demand planning is essential
• Commercial awareness
• Excellent negotiation, organisational and communication skills
• Hands on Manager with skills to implement best working practises and develop the team
• Excellent IT skills - experience of advanced ERP systems is essential
• Dynamic, able to multi-task and prioritise work
• Keen eye for detail
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills. Ability to create valuable and meaningful MI

• Candidates with CIPS qualifications are highly desirable, although 3+ years within a relevant procurement role is essential
• Possess an excellent understanding of procurement processes and demonstrable success and experience managing a team
• Have confidence in your ability to provide training and support to others whilst using your own initiative
