Procurement Manager

Procurement Manager - Hand on experience with Raw Materials - Significant opportunity for growth & progression

Location - Trafford Park

Salary - Circa £55k + Benefits

Leading FMCG manufacturer, distributor and brand owner are looking to secure an experienced and hands on Procurement Manager to join their site team in South Manchester.

The successful candidate will have significant experience operating at Manager / Head of level within purchasing environment and will be responsible for spearheading the purchasing and stock control process from creating and managing an efficient forecast and demand planning function, to selecting suppliers and taking ownership on sourcing and procurement process.

You will be a Purchasing and Supply Chain expert who will specialise in implementing cost effective purchases of all goods, across raw materials, manufacturing and finished goods as required by the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop the existing procurement strategy with a focus on longer term demand driven planning to prevent overstock / last minute understock.
  • Work with NPD team to source and engage reliable suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiating with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous terms.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Owning the "Stock control process" promoting a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
  • Develop effective forecast models based on industry trends and demand patterns.
  • Support management with risk assessments and mitigation activities e.g. Distressed stock
  • Propose and implement solutions to improve demand forecast accuracy.
  • Successfully communicate forecast and inventory estimations to management.
  • Conduct regular forecast maintenance.
  • Oversee & manage the systems & tools that track demand, inventory, and the supply of goods.

Candidate experience required:

  • Proven experience managing supply chain operations - preferable in a Manufacturing, Food Production or FMCG environment
  • Management and leadership skill set
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
