Payroll Clerk

Job Title: Payroll Clerk
Pay Bracket: £22,000 - £26,000 DOE

We are looking for an experienced payroll clerk to join our client, a rapidly growing organisation based in Burnley. Due to a recent chain of acquisitions, the existing finance team of 15 are looking to grow further, welcoming a friendly and experienced profile to their team. This is a diverse and ambitious group who want to take the company to new heights, working collaboratively to achieve common goals.
This role offers a competitive starting salary, highly negotiable depending on experience. A background of end-to-end payroll and knowledge of Sage is ideal. This role has exciting progression opportunities as the company continues to grow both organically and through further planned acquisitions.

What does the role involve?
Reporting directly into the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for weekly and monthly company payroll.

  • Preparing payroll across several companies on a monthly and weekly basis
  • Managing the end-to-end payroll for the company, working alongside a part-time payroll administrator
  • Communicating with the HR department to maintain accurate records, processing new starters
  • Payroll reconciliations
  • Ah hoc support for the wider finance team assisting in holiday cover for purchase and sales ledger.


Who would be the right fit?
This role would suit someone with a background of payroll and accounts who is looking for a new challenge within a progressive and ambitious company. This role has the scope to grow over time as the company continues to expand.

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role - end to end payroll
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, and experience using Sage payroll is ideal
  • A friendly personality to work alongside the diverse and lively finance team
  • Strong organisation skills and time keeping, able to meet internal payroll deadlines
  • Existing qualifications are not required for this role, we are looking for someone who is qualified by experience, with salary highly negotiable depending on experience
