Management Accountant

Established and well known South Manchester based business are looking for an experienced Accountant to join their busy finance team on a permanent basis.

The main purpose of this role is to produce management accounts for the IT and Business Change teams, and to prepare the VAT returns and accrual each period for the companies accounted for by the Business.

Key Accountabilities

• Production and maintenance of the IT and Business Change management accounts and liaising with the IT and Commercial Finance teams
• Assisting in the consolidation of accounting reports and commentary to produce accurate and informative monthly management accounts and commentary
• Completion to timetable of VAT returns for each division on a period basis.
• Production of the GRNI report on a period basis for issue to the Management Accounts team.
• Preparation and posting of central journals.
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and business case processes.
• Assisting in the development of VAT and working via processes and controls.
• Ensuring all VAT and balance sheet accounts are reconciled to supporting documentary evidence.
• Assisting with the continuous improvement process, and being proactive in identifying opportunities to improve processes and identify efficiencies.
• Assist with preparation of year-end tax pack in accordance with Tax Department guidelines and reference to supporting documentation - Submit to Group Tax Department and resolve any queries promptly.
• To undertake any other reasonable tasks requested by senior members of the Management Team.

Person Requirements - Qualifications, Experience & Competencies

• Have at least 18 months' experience of producing accurate and timely accounts within a busy and fast-paced business environment
• Have experience of producing VAT returns
• Be studying for a recognised professional qualification
• Have the ability to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail
• Have excellent Excel skills and experience of manipulation of large amounts of data
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
• Experience of liaising with auditors for interim and year end audits.
• Good working knowledge of current accounting software systems.
• A good working knowledge of all accounting functions including purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll, fixed assets, cash and banking, general ledger and stock.
