Health & Safety Coordinator

Employment Type: PermanentLocation: Greater ManchesterSalary: Up to £35000 per annum

I am delighted to be working with global manufacturer based in Great Manchester who are looking for a Health & Safety Coordinator to join their talented team. My client leads with innovations and ideas for the future and this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a forward thinking team.

What you will be doing?

You will be responsible for working with the management team and wider business to drive the Health, Safety and Environmental agenda in line with business needs. You will be reporting to the HR Business Partner and General Manager with main responsibilities including:

  • To develop and maintain plans and define team targets to achieve key Sections, targets and budgets. Ensure compliance with applicable legal legislation.
  • To monitor site HSE KPIs, department HSE KPIs and HSE budgets to ensure all KPIs are achieved and negative trends are addressed
  • To co-ordinate and arrange resources to achieve required Plant HSE tasks and facilities maintenance alongside the facilities supervisor.
  • To maintain and develop a teamwork environment and one that promotes and utilises team driven continuous improvement activities
  • To identify, support and drive short to medium Site and HSE improvements, especially around training gaps
  • Provide direction and motivation as required and ensure the development/training of direct and other staff in order to ensure key SHE concerns are addressed.
  • In conjunction with others, undertake the development, operation and maintenance of Health, Safety and Environmental systems
  • Provide advice, support and training across all levels of the business
  • Work with the wider Regional team to drive best practice across the region.

Who would this role suit and key skills and attributes?

  • NEBOSH National Certificate or NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety Environmental/IEMA qualifications would be a distinct advantage
  • Knowledge in the provisioning of work permits
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of common facilities management legislation / standards would be a distinct advantage
  • Experience in the safe and environmentally sound maintenance of site utilities and facilities
  • 5S & Kaizen experience and Mental health awareness
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure as well as strong work ethic, problem solving and receptive of feedback
  • Have a positive 'can do' attitude with the drive to see tasks/projects through to completion
  • Must be able to operate independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong work ethic, problem solving and receptive of feedback
