Financial Controller

Financial Controller - Property Management LSE listed company

Based: Manchester (Hybrid working available)

Salary: circa £60k dependant upon experience

An exciting opportunity to join a leading property development business that is listed on the Standard List of the London Stock Exchange. The Group has a range of developments across the North of England which it either develops with its own funding or acts as a development manager. Along with an internal development function, the Group has a in-house construction and property services team that allows it to offer a vertically integrated solution to property investors.

The Group are looking for a qualified and experienced Financial Controller that is highly ambitious and shows a dedication to continuously developing their skills. Culture is exceptionally important to the business and they seek a candidate that would add to the existing environment. The candidate would need to be confident in communicating financial information to those without a financial background and to those at all levels, from Directors to Administrators.

The existing team is headed by a highly qualified Finance Director who is supported by 4 other finance staff. It is recognised that a candidate may not have experience covering all areas required but must show a willingness to learn as well as provide guidance to other members of the team. The role would be broad and cover a range of tasks across both the PLC and related parties. The Finance Director is looking a right hand person that will support them and represent when required.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Accounting- Monthly management accounting for the listed and associated businesses, compiling the consolidation, prep technical accounting papers and prep & review of stat accounts
  • Audit - Responsible for the Group annual audit and interim review undertaken as well as management of the full audit process across two other entities that also require annual audits
  • Taxation - Review VAT, CIS and corporation tax returns for the listed company
  • Corporate - Support the FD in drafting of board and committee papers as well as the provision of analysis and other external reporting
  • Forecasting, budgeting & management information - Supporting the business with their annual budgeting process and consolidating into a Group level budget as well as provision of individual budgets as and when required
  • Capital Management -Support the Board in driving capital allocation effectively to projects in the Group and to associate business
  • Company Secretarial and Compliance - Draft board minutes and resolutions for transactions in the listed companies subsidiaries as well as full support the Directors in ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations, including Companies Act 2006, regulations from the FCA and the QCA Code of Corporate Governance

The role requires a Qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) with at least 2 years PQE - Industry experience isn't essential however proven ability within a similar level role would be beneficial.
