Financial Controller

Financial Controller

Based: Salford area (close to city centre)

Salary: up to £75k dependent on experience, car allowance, pension, Private Healthcare  

Flexible working available 1day from home weekly

 

Our client is a leading, privately owned, wholesale and distribution business. They were founded over 30 years ago and have continued to grow to circa £30m as a UK company. We are looking for a hands on Financial Controller to join the business as number 1 in finance due to a retirement. This role will report directly into the owners, managing a small finance team whilst offering strategic financial advice to the directors. As the business grows it could offer the opportunity for Finance Director in the future

Role:

  • Producing monthly financial management information pack
  • Budgeting planning and forecasting
  • Producing years statutory accounts
  • Managing corporate tax, PAYE, VAT returns
  • Management and control of the finance team on day to day activities
  • Preparation of the monthly financial reporting for the business
  • Preparing budgets, working with department heads to create and maintain
  • Review the business operation and identify areas for improvement
  • Deal with the companies tax compliance requirements
  • First POC for external auditors and tax advisors
  • Managing business cashflow
  • Working with the owners to continue to grow the business, offering sound financial advice to aid decision making
  • Providing information to aid key strategic decision making, interpreting financial data
  • Implementing procedures, internal controls and risk management
  • Maintaining all finance systems, identifying areas that require improvements and implementing change

Experience:

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA
  • Experience as number 1 in finance (ideally SME) highly desirable
  • Wholesale/distribution experience desirable but not essential
  • Hands on approach, energetic and enthusiastic to drive business forward
  • Strong Excel skills
