Assistant Financial Controller

Assistant Financial Controller

Based: Blackburn

Salary: dependent on experience. Flexible start/finish times (37.5 a week), private medical, enhanced pension, free parking.

Role will be interim for approximately 2-4 months dependent on change.

Our client is a leading global group manufacturing business based in Blackburn. With continued growth over the last 5 years+, they are currently looking for a strong Assistant Financial Controller to join the team, supporting the Financial Controller with UK finances. This role sits as number 2 in UK finance where turnover is £10m, sitting as part of a wider £120m TO group. We are looking for someone with strong SME experience who can really come in and hit the ground running taking over financial responsibility for the UK entities whilst also supporting the Financial Controller with global, group finances when required

This is a great opportunity to lead autonomously on UK finances whilst getting involved in wider group projects and overseas finance with the FC. Manufacturing experience is essential.

Role:

  • Managing a team of 2 transactional staff including development
  • Large involvement on a new costing project - standard costings review, product costing
  • Working closely with the General Manager, business partnering to drive growth
  • Producing monthly accounts and management reporting packs for various UK entities
  • Providing insightful analysis, assisting with the planning and budgeting process
  • Overseeing general accounting duties including accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
  • VAT returns, PAYE and year-end payroll - ensuring full compliance
  • Variance analysis and reporting on costings in monthly meetings
  • Producing commercial financial reporting & analysis on pricing, gross margin and NPD
  • Assisting with quarterly forecasting and budgeting where required
  • Cash management responsibility across all 6 UK entities

Experience:

  • ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualified Accountant
  • Experience within manufacturing is essential (knowledge of standard/product costings)
  • Experience working within an SME is essential
  • Commercially aware and a strong communicator
  • UK GAAP (FRS102) experience highly desirable
