Location: Wigan

Our client is a quickly growing manufacturing company based in Wigan who are looking to expand their existing finance team of 4 to include a full-time accounts assistant with a credit control focus on a permanent basis. Due to growth, this is a completely new role created through increased demand. You will join a lively office environment reporting directly to the Finance Director with plenty of progression opportunities on offer with future study support.

The team are friendly, down to earth and approachable, helping each other wherever possible and creating a great working culture. An ideal candidate for this position will have existing credit control experience and be adaptable - looking to improve the current processes in place.

Your main roles and responsibilities:

Reporting directly into the FD your role will be to co-manage the credit control function and general transactional finance - taking ownership of the sales ledger end to end and ensuring timely payments are brought into the business with a proactive approach. This role will involve working with the sales team and creating reports for the managing director, ensuring the communication of high-quality information through the business.

  • Managing the company sales ledger end to end
  • Purchase ledger - entering invoices onto the system, matching, batching and coding
  • Chasing overdue payments into the businesses, taking a proactive approach with debtors
  • Reducing debtor days and building rapport with external parties
  • Processing and sending out invoices and credits
  • Running aged creditors reports and maintaining company spreadsheets
  • Query resolution
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Collaborating with other company departments to maximise efficiency, particularly the sales division and support of the wider accounting team.

The ideal candidate will have:

An ideal candidate for this position will have existing knowledge of the transactional accounts function and passion for the role. We are looking for someone who works efficiently and wants to help the existing team where possible. Previous experience or interest in the wider accounting function is highly beneficial to this role, as there is future opportunity to progress and increase in responsibilities.

  • A minimum of 3 years of accounts experience
  • Working knowledge of Excel including pivot tables and v-lookups is highly advantageous
  • A friendly personality and confident communication over phone and email
