Payroll Administrator

This is an exciting payroll opportunity where you will join the finance team for a growing organisation in the education sector.
The objective of this role is to provide a timely and accurate monthly payroll and pension service for the company. Some knowledge of HR administration is preferred although not essential.

An ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of payroll, taxation and reporting - with at least 5 years' experience in a similar position. It is vital that you are able to hit the ground running in this role. Phenomenal benefits are also on offer listed below.
Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure payroll transactions are processed and paid promptly with excellent accuracy on a monthly cycle
  • Year end processing including producing P60s and P11Ds.
  • Ensuring Real Time Information reports are made in accordance with HMRC deadlines.
  • Inputting transactions and timesheets, processing starters and leavers, expenses claims, maternity, sickness, salary sacrifice schemes etc.
  • Calculation of employees' entitlement to Occupational Sick Pay, SSP, SMP and SPP.
  • Processing paperwork related to employment changes, contracts
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with staff and stakeholders - handling any enquiries by telephone or writing.
  • Escalation of issues such as time sheet errors or disputes to management
  • Finding and investigating any discrepancies to support the payroll reconciliation process and helping with audits - internal and external.
  • Processing BACS timetables, issuing payslips, collating summary reports and PAYE information to clients
  • Undertake continuous professional development to enhance skills and job performance, maintaining up to date knowledge on payroll legislation and practice.
  • Routinely checking the existing payroll database, making any updates as required to ensure accuracy over time.
  • Conducting checks to ensure accuracy of submissions from different sites.
  • Preparation of data for annual reporting to share with stakeholders.


This role has the option of flexibility in start and finishing times and some remote working on offer. This is a down to earth and friendly team, which try to help each other wherever possible. We are looking for someone with a warm personality who wants to go the extra mile for his or her team.
