Training at Four – it’s not one size fits all.

Training at Four – it’s not one size fits all.
14 Apr 2021

We pride ourselves on our high employee retention levels at Four. 50% of our team have been with us for over nine years or more and the average length of service is currently six years – much higher than our industry average.

We strongly believe that one of the main reason’s colleagues stay with us for so long is the extensive training we provide.  This is directed by our very hands on and highly experienced owners and directors.

We understand that no two consultants are the same, we all learn in very different ways and have varied strengths and skill sets and one of our core principles is to offer training and support packages targeted to the individual.

If you are at the start of your career our training will prepare you for the role ahead. You’ll start from the beginning gaining the skills required to be a successful recruiter.  But your training won’t stop there, you’ll receive a structured programme to ensure continuous progression.

You may already have experience as a recruiter, we’ll look at your career goals now and in the future.  This may be running your own division, or perhaps leading on specific projects. To ensure you achieve your goals and aspirations, we’ll ensure that you get all of the internal and external training and assistance required.

We asked a range of our consultants to share their training experience with Four.

Abbie Smith

Abbie joined Four as a consultant in 2016 with three years’ experience from another recruitment company. Having fallen into recruitment after university she found herself in a business where you ‘learnt as you went along’ and received minimal training.  She felt that, in order to progress, a move to a more hands-on agency was required.

“Even though I had gained experience in my previous role, I wanted to develop the skills I felt had been missed.

“Four put together a programme for me to fill in the gaps but in addition coordinated the higher-level training that would help me to grow in my role.”

Since joining us nearly five years ago, Abbie has attended numerous internal and external programmes to further develop her knowledge and has embraced every opportunity that has come her way.

In 2019 she was encouraged to consider a management route and was enrolled on a detailed programme.

With ongoing training and support alongside an unbelievable amount of hard work, Abbie is a fantastic example of what can be achieved at Four. In just under five years, she has progressed from consultant, to divisional manager of the Lancashire team and in recent months has been made an associate director working with the board to lead and direct the businesses strategy and growth.

Victoria Jolley

Victoria is our most recent recruit and joined Four on our graduate programme. She found a passion for the recruitment industry while completing a summer placement and knew this was a career she wanted to pursue.

Victoria’s training began at the beginning, learning the basics of the role but also understanding the wider aspects of business, to assist in her wider role.

Victoria said: “At the beginning of my training, I spent a great deal of time with Phil (co-owner at Four) directly.

“To have dedicated time with the owner of the business is something which I haven’t experienced before, and I found it invaluable”.

Victoria adds: “I’m currently still learning but I find it extremely motivating to be surrounded by experienced recruiters and to discuss my progress regularly with the directors of the business.

“I sit a few metres away from an associate director which is fantastic exposure when you’re aiming to progress”.

Does this environment with this kind of support and training sound like something you would like to be part of? Contact us to discuss opportunities at Four: 01204 326 444.
