Earlier in the year we were approached by a long-standing client of ours Careshop (part of the Bunzl group) as to whether we could add any additional value to their current apprenticeship programme, through providing advice on careers in the accounting and finance profession. There were a handful of students that attended the Careshop on a weekly basis as part of their school curriculum with the intention that they got the chance to experience what it was really like in the workplace and to help them establish whether finance was the right career path for them. As well as placing people in jobs we are also very keen to continue our support for local charities. Earlier in the year we were approached by Hursts, our new firm of accountants about entering a team in to their charity football tournament, and were obviously happy to oblige! It has now become an annual summer tradition for the ladies of Four Financial to take out the ladies of some of our regular clients. This July we were joined by Bensons for Beds, Shaws of Darwen, Places for People and Georgia Pacific at Chester Races. We enjoyed a highly entertaining day of wonderful food, pink champagne, glorious sunshine and a small amount of gambling! Wedding Bells!

In August Phill Heald our Accounts and Admin Manager has recently married his long term partner, Ruth. Phill proposed to Ruth just last year and they very quickly set to work planning their wedding. Phill and Ruth got married at Malcesine Castle, Lake Garda in Italy on the 21st August, spending a further 2 weeks there on honeymoon. Following their return to the UK Phill and Ruth enjoyed another celebration in Manchester with all their family and friends. After a long 9 months on July 8th this year Carl Meyler became a dad for the first time to their beautiful son George Craven who was born weighing a healthy 8lb 8ozs. Carl and his wife Hannah were both delighted to become parents and are really looking forward to George growing up and lots of happy times together!

Clearly the temporary job market continues to be quite challenging in terms of volume of vacancies, is this the consequence of AWR or the challenging economic conditions that we are currently trading in? I would say it’s more the latter rather than the former as most businesses are still getting to grips with the impact of AWR and the real test of its impact will come further down the line.
