Clearly the temporary job market continues to be quite challenging in terms of volume of vacancies, is this the consequence of AWR or the challenging economic conditions that we are currently trading in? I would say it’s more the latter rather than the former as most businesses are still getting to grips with the impact of AWR and the real test of its impact will come further down the line. Protection of employee`s rights can only be a good thing but the additional paperwork, legislation and potential implications of not doing things right certainly are causing clients a concern. Most …

As we continue to grow as a business this means that our staffing needs are also on the increase. With another new recruit Neil Whittaker having just started in Bolton, we would like our next appointment to be a consultant with some experience of recruitment and preferably the Manchester market, to assist with the growing client database in Manchester. We also intend to hold a graduate recruitment day in May 2012, as we have done for the last couple of years. If you know of anyone that may be interested in joining our team or attending the graduate recruitment day …
In my role as HR Officer I have spent some time recently liaising with clients and candidates to ensure compliance with the Agency Workers Regulations that came in to play towards the end of 2011. The upshot of this legislation is that temporary workers become entitled to the same basic working conditions as their permanent equivalent, taking in to account qualifications, skill and experience, after 12 complete weeks of continuous service. Basic working conditions include pay, working time and holiday entitlement. With regards to pay, temporary workers once they have completed 12 weeks of service, will be entitled to the …
Following a very busy and successful 2011 we are delighted to mark the start of the New Year with the opening of our third office in Manchester, definitely our biggest and most exciting venture to date. Having visited various potential sites in Manchester we decided on an office suite located in the Riverside building, next to Spinningfields, an accessible location for us and for candidates coming to meet with us. Not to mention the vast array of restaurants and shops close by for the lunch hour!! Having worked the Manchester market for the last few months from the Bolton office, now actually having a presence in …
Four Financial is very proud to announce the arrival of Carl Meyler. After about three years of being in contact with him Carl decided it was the right time to join our business in the capacity of Business Manager. There is literally only a handful of people in the North West who can rival Carl in terms of experience and also reputation and fortunately, now most of them work for us! Carl has spent thirteen years building his reputation across four or five offices for his previous employer where he has recruited at all levels and all sectors. Carl`s main …
As part of my varied role here I also like to continue the work that we have done over the past few years with various local and national charities. In November 2011 we organized a quiz for Children in Need, where we gave our Lancashire-based clients the opportunity to enter a team, in return for a small donation to Children in Need and the opportunity to win some great prizes and of course to have a few laughs. The quiz was held at Scotts Bar in Horwich and was compered by our very own MC Phil!! There was some great rivalry on the night, including …
Claire has organised to take some of our existing clients to Ladies Day at Chester Races on Saturday 11th June. The day commences at 11am, and with plenty of champagne flowing let’s just hope the sun is shining, although it looks like we have had our summer already!! Look forward to the pictures in the next newsletter!
As one of our aims as a business is to support as many charities as possible the girls from Four have decided to embark on the Manchester 5K race for life, taking place at Heaton Park in Manchester on Sunday 10th July. This may not sound like too much of a challenge but with a range of abilities running-wise to contend with it most definitely is!! Claire, one of our Directors, whilst being a decent cross country runner at primary school hasn’t done very much since, except for a few lengths of the Trafford Centre!! However, Claire is currently in training and aims to complete the run in …
We have recently employed an independent brand and communications agency, Clock Creative, to carry out some market research with existing clients to understand their perceptions of us as a business, what elements of our service are most important to our clients and our current positionin the market place. The survey looked at the effectiveness of our logo and whether or not it is recognisable and remembered, how familiar our clients are with our website, and an overall perception of the service that we deliver. The information that was gathered will help us to develop a marketing strategy, with a particular emphasis on developing a strong brand. We …
